a friend of mine introduced me to this song and it blew my mind... I'm a drummer and listening to that drummer smash out those synco rhythms with that kick arse riff.... his hands are playing in 4/4 (Hi-Hat and snare) and his feet (bass ped) is playing in 23/16 at the start which only matches up on the first beat of every...5 bars I think... ANYWAY this song is freaking amazing |

OK sitting down to work this out nearly killed me in this state of half-awakeness it begins in 4/4 time then it goes to 7/8 for a bar and then to 3/4 4/4, then 7/8 for a bar then 3/4 and then 4/4 then 7/8 6/8 7/8 4/4 and after this again it changes to 13/16 15/16 and 17/16 and 14/16 4/4, 7/8, 3/4 4/4, 7/8, 4/4 then to 5/4 and then it does a whole bunch of crazy changes which are things like 17/16, 15/16, 14/16 and that's pretty much the times that it's centred around good ol' prog rock for you |

I always assumed this was a song about suicide a person standing upon a cliff looking down into the foaming sea the sun is hot, perhaps summer (like a haiku, the seasonal word) salt scales from the water below drying upon his arms looking down, down, looking down down again... perhaps having second thoughts, seeing how far down it is? |

FF are so awesome But I missed them when they came to Aus last year damn it Oh well, this song is great! The meaning of the lyrics is so sad/sweet but the music is so danceable/bright and happy in theory it shouldn't really go together well but in reality, it's one hell of a song!! |

This is one of the best songs the cure has done It is so .....danceable (for want of a better word...) it is filled with awesomeness the cure are just awesome I think this song is about a suicide pact when the cure wrote this song they were trying to say 'we are not goth rock' but they went and wrote a song with goth rock themes and a pop-rock tune and rhythm how ironic... |
