One of the Beatle's best songs, John's best written. Har to do a verse/refrain format and of course they pulled it off perfectly. The lyrics are essentially easy to understand. Each verse describes a different form of musician at that time. The first the 'flat top' is a reference to the brand new 'Southern Rockers' who were appearing at that time. Verse 2 is a picture of the glam rockers who were also just getting started. Verse 3 is about Lennon himself, complete with 'Ono sideboard.' The fourth verse is about the dying image of the fifties rockers, the ones that Lennon idolized. The 'Teddy Boys.' All four of these characters are said to Come Together. Lennon is recognizing how the music world has changed around him and is continuing to change. He just asks that they all Come Together. |
