| Band of Horses – The End's Not Near Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| What I really miss in this version is the guitar part after the 3rd verse. In the original (by "the new year") that part is just epic in it's own, simple kind of way. Good cover, though | |

>>Since at songmeanings.net there seems to be "the new year" and "new year" with different comments to the same song, I might as well put this one here as well. If you want to see the other comments, search for "new year" instead of "the near year".<< At first: This is a great song and I love it. And sry for my English not being perfect, I'm German and this is just school-English. Here's what I think: "The end's not near, it's here" means that there may have been a "announcement" that the end is near. but now it's there/here, it's inevitable. Not even the "martyrs with better ways..." will stop it. This verse is even more sarcastic than the first one that RMV1300 descriped pretty well (see "new year" comments"). And that's when both the music and the meaning turns. in the 3rd verse the autor describes his own feelings. He is hiding from what is about to come. "They can't see everything on earth With the satellites and the roving drones" "They" is the Government, the men behind the curtain, the men that WANT to both see and control everything. Global Government, Enslavement, NWO, the kingdome come. And while the martyrs are dieing, the saints are hiding. A very true song. |

| Rammstein – Amerika (English) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

@Relle: This song does not blame the american's for slavery, and it's not even about that. it's just about the current situation. i wont blame you for what your ancestors did, so you wont blame me for what mine did (i'm german btw.), cause none of us did do anything wrong. but america is fighting a war right now, a war against the world, against me, and against its own folks. and its even dangerous than nazi-deutschland (even though they wont hunt for juish people), since now we have complete new situation: for the first time in history, a country is actually mighty enough to fuck the world, with lies - not weapons. and noone will know what goes on until its too late, cause 90% will be busy watching stupid people tv, buying useless products, being told about terrifying terrorists/terror/terrorism (not considering that their government is smart and mighty enough to make them believe whatever they want them to) or being busy with not listening to the 10% of smart people. so how late is it? |

| Modest Mouse – Make Everyone Happy/Mechanical Birds Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Saying this song was about bein selfish would presuppose that there´s a difference between making everybody happdy and making yourself happy, but for some people that´s quite the same, isn´t it? I´m still not getting this song completly, there are still some questions: When he says "but I know who I´ve been", what does he mean by this, who has the protagonist been before? And the hole mechanical birds-thing is still kinda confusing to me. Nevertheless the instrumental outro is probably the best I´ve ever heard. All the weirder to me that my friends don´t like this at all, they say it´s kinda irritating or even anoying. Maybe it´s because I´m from Germany and just 17 years old and so my friends are. They may not get the lyrics or may not be able to translate anything. whatsoever, I´m out ;) |

Well Triangle Man, that was a quite interesting thing you told us about the original version , even though the songtext still doesn´t make sense to me (not completly anyway). I always guessed it had sth to do with the good old sandmann but i wasn´t sure (may I´d have been if I watched sandmännchen often enough to notice that ""Nun, liebe Kinder, gebt fein Acht..." is a quote taken from sandmännchen). Whatever... Does anyone know the point of these lyrics? |
