| Nine Inch Nails – Big Man with a Gun Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I bought this album today, and I think I should have got it way sooner. It's clear that it's about gun culture, particularly American, and how it proves you are a man by waving a gun about. He metaphor's his dick as the gun to prove that the gun is a sign of masculinity in today's world. I started reading the lyric sheet before I listened to it while I was waiting for my sister in Topshop, and this song really stood out. People looked at me weird for just sitting in Topshop reading lyrics though, haha. |

| Hadouken! – Dance Lesson Lyrics | 17 years ago |

"It's cool to be hard and hard to be cool." That is one of the best lyrics ever. It sums how I think, that all people care about is proving how hard they are and how hard everyone else is. This song just represents everyone. Shouting their mouth about all the time just to prove themselves and make themselves look hard, when they're most probably not. |

| For me, it could mean about waiting until you get what you think is yours. I dunno, but either way, it's just so good. I'm covering this myself. | |
| Dance Gavin Dance – And I Told Them I Invented Times New Roman Lyrics | 17 years ago |

The clean vocals are absolutely amazing. His range is so good. Screams could be trained more, but they're still alright nevertheless. Lyrics are alright, but just seem like the cliche, metaphor-saturated emo stuff that everyone writes and thinks is beautiful. |

Class song. Class band. Class lyrics. Not the same pretentious attempting-to-be-poetic crap you get most of the time. The whole "first love, last love" thing is great, I can totally relate to that. I don't know if "do you miss home?" is referencing to how being in love feels, like being dead distant and having no other care, and asking if they feel the same. And asking "are you symmetrical?" sees to mean like are you the same all over, have you got two sides to you? I dunno, but it's beautiful either way. |

This is one of two DDG songs I like. For me they're one of those annoyingly over-dramatic whiney bands. But I'm guessin' it's about a serial killer, DDG seem to have a thing with serial killers based on the new album's concept (Worse Than A Fairytale). By the looks of it, a killer with some morbid idea of love, wanting some deranged Romeo & Juliet-esque thing obviously. Second verse obviously details how he killed her. The last verse shows that the killer's been found out after having done this before. "You will not die with me" parodies R&J by looks of it. Still, quite a tune. |

| Bic Runga – Sway Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Heard it first on American Pie, like I suppose many others did, and loved it even then when my musical approach was a bit more arrogant. Means quite a lot to me, sums me up quite a lot. Favourite lyric: "I fall into an ocean of you, pull me out in time Don't let me drown, let me down" For me, it says that you never wanna get in too deep, it's always too scary. Not a massive Bic Runga fan but this song is truely amazing. |

| Enter Shikari – Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour... Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I was thinking more like, obviously it's about a guy liking a girl and her not being bothered, and maybe the whole "everything seems to intimdate him" is drug referenced, but could mean how nervous he is of approaching her. Then the whole curtain-going-down thing could be a metaphor for his chance with her. With the curtain being up, he has his chance to do his "act", being too nervous he didn't, and then the curtain drops on him, giving everyone else a chance, hence "it feels just like she is being hunted." And perhaps the last two lines, "who remains when the curtain falls?/Who remains when the curtain goes down?" stand for those two being meant for each other, saying that no one is left on stage when the curtain falls, so when he is on stage (meaning when he has the chance to approach her), he has to make the most of it. Maybe that's what the song's about, taking advantage of a chance you're given, not just about drugs and raves. |
