I think this song is about either about that moment when you realize that you're truly in love with someone and they love you back or a really bad acid trip. Maybe both. |

^ Ha ha ha. I knew that I'd heard this song before. It's ridiculously catchy, though; I could see why they'd cover it.
And yes, I'm inclined to argue that it's all one big sexual metaphor. Especially with the 'I think we should get together/ And try them out you see' and the 'going pretty far for a girl' bits. |

I so did not think that this was literally about astronauts. I thought this was about being in love with someone who could barely love you back because there's something else their consumed with: work, war, being famous...And they may say they love your back, but they're dedicating so much time to that other thing that it's hard to remember that.
That's what I got, but if Amanda said it was about Astronauts...I guess that's the same thing, though. |

Okay, it probably is about Palmer's work as a living statue, but when I listen to it, I think of Hollywood's general attitude. The line about '5 easy tips' makes me think of tabloids, and the part about the girl thinking she's a human but then succumbing to the statues' obsession with beauty is so, like, today, man. Ha. That's what I hear, but maybe that's because psychologically I'm attuned to think that, what with all the media attention that famous girls are getting as of late. |
