i love this song so much. i love how conor's lyrics, no matter what they mean to him and what he wrote them about, can be interpreted so many different ways. different people relate to them in different ways, and i feel like this song oddly mirrors my life right now. when i hear this song, i think about how right it is. i want to do something with my life, be committed to something other than going on the computer and watching tv and letting my brain gather dust. but i can't. whether it's because i'm lazy or this is just the way i am i don't know. |

" is a cheetah ignorant for eating buffalo?" some animals need meat to survive. humans aren't one of those animals. anyway, this is about animal rights, obviously. and i think the chorus about how livestock is slaughtered inside darkness, much like a factory, and it is also prepared and made all 'appealing' for everyone to consume in a factory before putting it in the stores and eventually ending up as someone's snack. it isn't a drug created in a factory, it isn't a religion shoved down your throat by little 'factory workers', and it isn't a blue cardigan or 'vote for bush!' shirt made in indonesia by eight year olds. it's innocent flesh being murdered and being worked on in factories. |

i think this song has a lot of meanings. for most of you, its a very 'fuck you' song, and for some its more like a 'birth to death' song. my interpretation is.. whatever makes you happy and trying to understand it 'Because I don't know what tomorrow brings It's alive with such possibilities All I know is I feel better when I sing' and 'We have a problem With no solution but to love And to be loved' and 'It's a shocking bit of footage Viewed from a shitty TV screen You can squint at it Just snow and static To make out the meaning' are the parts which made me think that. |
