of Montreal – Sink the Seine Lyrics 18 years ago
the net is a possibility, but I always thought that phrase meant draining the river.. and the seine=sane theory is interesting, but the real point is that this song should be longer.. about twice as long.

this song means nothing, absolutely nothing.. but it's the best narrative ever

Caribou – Melody Day Lyrics 18 years ago
"what about what he says at around the 1:09 mark? i can't make it out at all!"

I had to listen very closely and.. I had to repeat the song several times to draw out that text at the end. I hope it's right.. I think it's right.. ?

LCD Soundsystem – Someone Great Lyrics 18 years ago
I love the lines about how everything else continues uninhibited by the person's death. The speaker (James Murphy) seems not to want to let this person go immediately, but everything else in his life is urging him forward. There's this cruel indifference of time marching forward, and leaving his mourning behind. It's a very good observation by him.

Wolf Parade – Modern World Lyrics 18 years ago
Okay.. I should elaborate on that. The current lyric makes it seem like Modern World just so happened to drive the savages back, but the real lyrics make it seem like it was intentionally used as a tool to drive the savages back.

the correct phrase is "It was a torch to drive the savages back to the trees" which definitely reinforces eagle-bear's theory.

I think "there is no master" is actually "there is no master" like a master key. It makes more sense.

Psapp – Eating Spiders Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's a song about an uncertainty of faith. The speaker seems agnostic. "Further that we go, in what we go through" seems to imply that she feels more and more alienated from faith the longer she lives. Also it seems to include the whole "we are individually small versus the universe" It sounds like Psapp's take on the whole meaning of life. Their answer is, I don't know.. how could anyone really know?
