| The Beatles – She Said She Said Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Peter Fonda was recently interviewed on "Here & Now" with Robin Young(produced by WBUR, www.here-now.org). He was being interviewed because of the movie "3:10 to Yuma". Peter stated that George Harrison was having a bad trip & he was trying to calm George down by telling George that he knew what it was like to be dead. So at least I believe the song is in part due to Peter Fonda. Wikipedia states that there are early demos with the lyrics stating "He said", instead of "She said". Also it states that John Lennon was upset with what Peter was saying and stated "You're making me feel like I've never been born". Eventually John had Peter kicked out. |

| TLC – No Scrubs Lyrics | 18 years ago |

The song really isn't conceited, I think the song just wants someone who is a decent human being, though I see that it could be interpreted differently. There are people out there who do live at home & even have wives & girlfriends and they're nice people, they've just hit hard times or are saving for their own house. There are also guys who sit around all day watch TV in their underwear and don't help out around the house or work. There are guys who do work but treat their girlfriends like property. So I think that's what they're suggesting as a scrub. Also someone noted that 'Scrub' could be a reference to a game being played to pick up a random girl. Warren67>> Hopefully what you say is really true and you're not just using that as a pitiful excuse. There are truly some people out there who have disadvantages that may prevent them from obtaining a job, a place of their own or a car, using it as an excuse to be lazy if you're truly not disadvantaged would be very "scrub" like. ;) |

The song is very catchy. It's pretty obvious it's about two people cheating on each other. This isn't really an empowering song, it's more of just the story from the side of the woman and her excuses for what she's doing. It's a song about a person who doesn't want to let go of something that is no longer there. It's rather a sad song, as it shows that she does not value herself enough to leave someone like that. |

| ABC – Be Near Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song's meanings are pretty obvious in the lyrics. However the true beauty of the song is in the execution and the very catchy synth hook. One of ABC's & the 80's best, I'd have to say. =) | |
| New Order – Love Vigilantes Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I do believe the song is about World War 2, mainly from the lyrics "from the land of the son". I never thought about the idea that he was already dead. Though the lyrics "For my country I would die. And I will see it soon". The line "And I will see it soon" could mean literally what it meant that he'll see his country. It could also mean he'd see his death soon. Also should be noted that "For my country I would die.", doesn't mean he's actually dead, merely a statement of his convictions. Nor do I think that the line about his wife laying on the floor because of the telegram means he's dead. In WWII there were quite a few false death reports, this could merely be one of these instances. Of course knowing the brooding nature of New Order it could very well be a darker tale than I originally imagined. |
