| I basically agree with fadetoflashes, although the "Dead Count" is NOT dying in this song, but merely going to some sort of religious war ("to fell the infidel"), most probably the war against of the hungary against the ottomen. God is not mentioned in this particular stanza. | |

| obviously, "amor e morte" has various meanings in various languages, with the effect of various people with restricted knowledges literally savage each other... Perhaps this is what Dani really wanted us to incite to... Who can tell?^^ | |

as part of the concept album "damnation and a day" and following the seduction of the first and only human inhabitants of paradise, this song basically deals with Satan realizing the new situation and trying to somehow take advantage of it by offering mankind his reign: "Behold the golden door To paradise is lost So praise Me as you raised your Lord And I shall thaw this gnawing frost" This means that, since paradise has turned into an inaccessable place for mankind, Satan now can provide it a better life. Speaking of this it is also interesting that the earth, the mortal realm including the mortals themselves is called "a sombre lot", which Satan first could "gain", then, after he apparently has had success, now "tills". What now follows is Satan's influence changing the course of humanity, which once by was set to praise God, but now, corrupted by Satan, has chosen a different path... |
