To me its about a breakup or pending breakup that he can see coming, (or she might be getting ready to leave him) d rather then drag it out, he says get it over with and just end it The reason I see it this way, is the line "everythings broken, everythings vacant". He's brokenhearted and feeling empty. That and the other lines pointing to broken dreams and etc. |

I think it hits each of us in its own way. For me, its like he got a call from his ex, and of course obviously theres a new girl in his life. But to me, its seems like he's saying that yeah, he's thought about her alot since they parted, and he still has feeling for her. but the last line of the song, "honey why you calling me so late", to me it seems like he's wondering what took her so long. almost as if he didn't want to move on, and held off doin' so. And now that he's finally gotten this new person in his life, his angel comes back. --I guess you have to go through it to see it this way. |

For me the song means alot. And has two different meanings. (and if u have seen the video, garth gives you both of them) the obvious one is love. personally i've just gotten over a long distance relationship and she broke my heart. but looking back i wouldn't have changed it for the world. the other side, is just like garth said: when you leave this world, you want people to play this song for you. I want my loved ones to know that yeah, i coulda missed the pain, but i'da had to miss the dance. |
