First of all: love Interpol! I never really knew them, but I saw them at the Lowlands Festival (NL) a week ago and it was great. Especially this song. So far, this thread has been very helpful. But I have an interpretation. I think it's defenitely romantic. In the middle it's somewhat optimistic ('I know you tried'), but then the music and the lyrics change ('here comes the fall'). So the fall is the overwhelming emotion he's feeling, and the pain etc. Probably for the first time ('pioneer'). |
