Personally I think it's about a boy, on a night out at a club/gig/rave, lamenting a lost love with a girl who he's there with. Perhaps they have just broken up that night. In their final exchanges he at first allows his emotions to show: "you're too much," Then his disappointment: "i take it that we're over" Before quickly trying to act aloof: "should we even care at all?" Before it all becomes too much: "too much, too much" And he makes one more effort to be cordial: "lets shake hands and say goodbye" The rest of the song, about facing the night and seeing it through, could be about them trying to at least enjoy the rest of the night because it's all they have left together, even if it is just as 'friends'. I think he is the 'Skeleton Boy'; he's a relic of his former self, emotionally stripped to the bare bones by the end of his relationship. But none the less, he vows to carry on and 'see it through'. My two cents :-) Oh, and I think it's "believing despite it all," rather than "believing despite the loss" as you have it. |

| I don't mind admitting that this song very nearly brings a tear to my eye. I'm 25. | |

The sample is from DeBarge's 80's hit "Stay With Me." It sounds pretty different from this! The sample has also been used for Big L and Ashanti records. |

I hope the above comment is a joke.... "Man, I throw him in the Beem, you grab the fucking C.R.E.A.M and if he start to scream "bam! bam!", have a nice dream." Dark line. |

First line is, "Don't take 'em to the crib unless they bonin." Last line of first verse is, "And I don't stop 'til I SQUIRT, Jeans or skirt, butt naked, it all WORK." The (half)rhyme doesn't work otherwise! One of the best songs ever about sexual prowess, intertwined with Biggie's inimitable story-telling ability. Should be remebered for more than that cheesy P Diddy remix. |
