yeah. mswench, you're clearly not a fan of either band. just need to put that out there. it's about sara moving to montreal and not telling ANYONE. oi. i hate when people think they'd actually RECORD a cover and release it on an album. such a shame. |

OK OK OK. so. .ca is SUPER helpful. [alanasaurxx if anyone's reading.] we know sara had a dream that involved her grandmother. the dream, according to concerts of course, was thatteegs was stabbed, and sara then crawled into bed with her grandmother who had passed away. and of course, she was incredibly freaked out about it. yikes. but yeah. that's...the meaning. haha: "The two songwriters also dealt with the death of their grandmother, a woman who figured largely into their childhood upbringing. Tegan explained "Knife Going In" comes from a dream Sara had about her sister being stabbed, in which Sara ran to seek refuge with their grandmother. "She climbed into bed with my grandmother, and I was, like, dying!" Tegan said of her sister's dream. "When she told me that I was like, 'Why didn't you come back for me, I was stabbed!'"" |

| Tegan and Sara – Like O, Like H Lyrics | 18 years ago |

yeah it's about sara dropping acid when she was younger. she talks about it all the time. hahaha. never about cutting....steel in your palm is heavy, like a weight. same with lead in your feet...it's heavy and weighing you down. you're stuck. it's all poetic. taking hinges off the door....my parents have threatened to remove my door because i either slam it too much or close it too much. [just out of habit, i don't hide anything when i close my door. haha.] so i think that's the same thing, except sara was hiding something, that she now doesn't hide anymore. the second verse is strictly growing up. 4+10, when she was 14 she was getting into fights or whatever, 6 years till she's through...when she turned 20 she felt that she had finally matured. ....yup. =D edit: oh yeah the "make a map of what you see" is like....plan things ou |

| Tegan and Sara – The Con Lyrics | 18 years ago |

this is my favorite song of all time. it really is. and i found interviews with tegan: one was from a concert and she was talking about "encircle me" and she was using it as more of a "hug me" term, but making jokes about how encircle me was the only thing with the right amount of syllables. haha. the other was about her and the album. it talked about how sara's song were about the pressure of her serious relationship with emy, and her's [tegan's] had to do with the long distance relationship she ended while touring so jealous. this song, to me and after reading that, is more about the fact that she was vulnerable and knew things she didnt want to hear or know, but she kept the relationship going because she needed a relationship. maybe not that particular person, but just a love interest there for her. and she knew she shouldn't be in the relationship because it wasn't enough or good or something, but she stayed there and was miserable about it. through the song, i think tegan's basically realizing that it's a bad relationship, and she's being foolish in staying with her partner only because she wants one. |

this song has nothing to do with cheating. tegan wrote THE CON, where sara wrote KGN. sara's also in a successful relationship. but at one of their concerts she said it had something to do with her grandma's death and some dream she had, but it was very vague. i love the tone of those song though.=]] but yeah...the lyrics are TOTALLY Wrong. haha. |

| Tegan and Sara – I Was Married Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
when i saw them live, it was three days after this album came out, so they played the whole album for the first half of the concert. they played it backwards, so this was the last song we heard before their short break. the first thing sara said was "this song is about gay marriage." i also read in an interview that emy and sara DID get commonlaw marriage....and i thin it said something about being in massachusetts. and thats where the line "I married in the sun against the stone of buildings built before you and I were born" came from. =] i love this song. and this album. i can't choose a favorite. i feel like its being unfair to the other songs to pick just one. hahaha. |

| Tegan and Sara – Not with You Lyrics | 18 years ago |

i absolutely ADORE this song. it's different, but the chorus is so catchy at the same time. i think this song means that whichever one of the twins wrote this was in love with someone, but they had so many faults they didnt 'know what to do with it. at the same time, they couldnt bear to let them go. she's nothing without her, but at the same time, she's suffocating and can't decide whether to free herself or put up with all the crap she's going through. my friend and i just went through the EXACT same thing. and i just recently discovered my deep seeded love for old tegan and sara stuff. it completes my collection. really does. |
