Blind Guardian – The Bard's Song (In the Forest) Lyrics 18 years ago
I think that the lyric of this GREAT song is linked with the lyric of "Imaginations From the Other Side": IFTOS is about fables and great stories in which sadly the speaker can't involve himself anymore, as he has grown too much; while The Bard's Song - In the Forest is about the great Bards who sang about that stories ( and Tolkien is involved for sure )

Flogging Molly – Black Friday Rule Lyrics 18 years ago
Probably the "Black Friday" event mentioned in this song refers to the Dublin and Monaghan Bombings in the Republic of Ireland (1974), the worst terrorist attack in term of fatalities of the history of Ireland. This probably the reason for which "As thousand they grieve". Probably this event impressed very much Dave, because he was only thirteen when it happened.
This verse is important:

"The buildings they shake but my heart it beats still"

The buildings probably shake as the result of the bombings. And the remaining part of the verse (but my heart it beats still) makes me think that Dave was involved in the terrorist attack. Does anyone knows something about it?

"I want to go home where my feet both feel safe
But there ain’t no jobs in the old free state"

I think that the two verses above refers to the problem of Dave after the emigration: he was without a United States Permanent Resident Card for eight years, making him incapable of visiting his home. I'm not sure about how this Card works, but maybe you require a job in the U.S.A. to get it but... "There ain't no jobs in the old free state"

If someone from the U.S.A. could explain how the Green Card works that would be great.. thanks
