This song probably has one of the best verses out of Joe's songs...other than my favorite Mary May and Bobby. "You see, once he was a young man. And he was holdin' a young girls hand. And they where walking' down by the lake, And about nineteen-forty-eight, And they had their first kiss. Oh, with the moon shining down, And they had the true love. Oh, it really could be found. In this town." This verse grabs me because every grandma or grandpa has a grand story about how they fell in love. It's actually magical to hear. Not only that, but you have Joe Purdy signing it with a great tune. Great chemistry for a song. Really makes you want to find someone amazing to grow old with.....Not only that, but really makes you realize that "true love" can be found when you're least expecting it. |

| Ok, someone mentioned that they don't know why this song wasn't bigger????? This song was number 1 on UK Itunes for a while, not to mention in the top 25 on the US's Itunes for a while too.....This song was huge for him. Not only that, but the producer actually called joe and asked him if he could make a song for lost...Joe did just that in out came this great song. | |

The best thing about this song is how bobby consistently asks mary to marry him and they can "live out by the sea like they do on the movie screen." Instead at the end of the song, mary winds up asking bobby (stating obvious) in a backwards yet twisted way as to what bobby kept saying. "we could live in a apartment building with a window view, we could take in movies on the weekend or plan our vacation,take a honeymoon by the sea" Any correlation for other folks? instead of live by the sea.....honeymoon by the sea. Instead of live like they do on the movie screen.....take in movies on the weekends. That part puts a great spin on the song. Pure genius |
