First I want to say that Black Lab rocks. I heard this song on the promo for The Shield and I immediately went and bought the CD "Passion Leaves a Trace." Every song on it is amazing. I highly recommend it.
Anyway, I think this song is about someone who is in recovery (after drug addiction) and is attempting to piece his life back together and see who he has left in his life that still gives a sh*t. It really hit me hard when I first heard it because I was hopelessly addicted to smack for 6 years. After finally managing to break free from it, it was very difficult to try and fix relationships and get back up on my feet. |

I get the distinct feeling that this song is about war, and wondering if the lives lost and pain caused are worth it. It's about sacrifice, and the memory of those lives that were lost for their country. |
