i have two ideas about this song. my first is that its about trying to keep a marriage that shouldnt have been in the first place together. they are still on their honeymoon where everything else is fun and new and exciting and she is the only one who knows that the fun (disneyland) is about to close and end. the spouse is running around trying to keep everything going, catching the lightning bugs, and poking holes in the lid so that it wont die once its bottled up. my other idea, and it might be from left field, is that this song is written from the point of view of a woman who has been sleeping with the husband of another woman and shes observing the marriage. |

| I think this is 100% about unrequitted love. Its the guy that loves the girl but she doesnt know it or wont acknowledge it. Hes in her world and loves her deeply but she doesnt see him. The "Im in the middle of your picture, lying in the reeds" kind of tells me this along with the moth reference. She is his light and he is attracted to her but cant get it. She is all that he needs but he cant be with her. Crappy situation that I can relate to. | |

this song is great. its definitely about a break up and the thoughts he has about it. Especially the lines: "You gave me all the reason To not pretend to need I don't deserve this freedom You handed off to me" love this song. is haunting. |
