I'm not entirely sure of the meaning, but it's definitely to do with fashion (Vogue usually refers to mainstream fashion, but you're right it's a European fashion magazine too). I think it's probably how many people see "gothic" as fashionable. "Gucci drenched in blood", "angels parade in black uniforms", and "the heart we share is a virus in our chests", "it's disease, glam and champagne filled with nails" is about how people catch it. "And see the dolls twist inside of their dreams", they try to act gothic (by listening to mainstream pop-rock) and it changes them, because they abandon who they are and become twisted in an attempt to "find themselves", if you get what I mean? My ideas anyway =/ |

A good interpretation. Personally I think it's about being in lust with someone a lot younger ("I carve your name in my flesh") and influencing them into doing illegal things ("Your lipstick's between the legs of hell mixed with speed and blood"), twisting her until she's as fucked up as he is ("the eggs grow in her open wrists, it has started now"), and he knows its wrong ("no prayers can reach me here, no light can touch" ... "shame, shame") I love this song. It's very dark, and in a little way depressing. You kinda hear the "shame" in more than just the lyrics, but in the music as well. |

I agree with all of you. I personally think it's about a devoted follower of God, but their prayers remain unanswered, so they feel abandoned and betrayed by God, because he's simply let them suffer. My thoughts anyway. Very sad song =( |
