| Sabaton – Attero Dominatus Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| and one hell of a song too | |
| Sabaton – Purple Heart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Presumably referring to Vietnam (M16's) but applicable to any soldiers anywhere. Very moving | |
| Sabaton – Counterstrike Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It becomes a lot easier when they provide the date in the song :) | |
| Sabaton – Panzer Battalion Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is indeed about Iraq | |
| Sabaton – Primo Victoria Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The intro to this song is absolutely fierce | |
| Sabaton – Talvisota Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Talvisota actually means "Winter War" in Finnish Its worth noting that while the Soviets suffered great losses, the Finn's were still forced to surrender, though they gave up much less than had been feared. Britain had plans to interfere, which would have brought them into war with the Soviet Union |
| Sabaton – Ghost Division Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It received that nickname since most of the time, neither the German nor Allied HQ's knew where they were | |
| Sabaton – Panzerkampf Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is about the battle of Kursk specifically. "break the citadel". The attack at Kursk was "operation Zitadelle" in German. |
| Sabaton – 40:1 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Not to mention that Polish troops fought under British (and later Soviet) flags to defeat the nazi's after their country fell. | |
| Millencolin – Battery Check Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| For me, its about sometimes just letting go of things around you, and focus on yourself instead. | |
| Millencolin – Kemp Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I love the intro sequence | |
| Millencolin – Happiness For Dogs Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song always makes me sad. | |
| Atari Teenage Riot – Revolution Action Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| Atari is blissfully simple. Great music to bounce around to when you are drunk | |
| Millencolin – Afghan Lyrics | 23 years ago |
Maybe you people should go read the history books a little. Read about Korea, Vietnam, world war 2, world war 1 or just about any other war. The afghan or american people are no more the blame and no more evil, than the french or german people were in world war 1. Wars are created by leaders. The people follow and the people is what bleeds in the trenches. Not the leaders. Innocense is the first casualty of war |
| Silverchair – Anthem for the Year 2000 Lyrics | 23 years ago |
This song was the one that convinced me Silverchair was a meaningfull band :) And its a great song |
| Slipknot – Only One Lyrics | 23 years ago |
This song is from Mate, Feed, Kill, Repeat, but Slipknot rewrote the lyrics from the original song so it wouldnt be about an RPG anymore. The "only one of us walks away" part is unchanged though |
| Slipknot – Eyeless Lyrics | 23 years ago |
Why is it that you always have to either completely worship a band, or utterly hate it ? I like slipknot for moments of fierce aggresion and for the pent up rage they emit. I also like that some of their lyrics are in fact quite great and they have a lot of innovative things to their music I think their whole image thing they have going is ridiculous and dumb and I also think that some of their lyrics are nothing beyond meaningless frustration. So there... I like parts and I dislike parts. Am I a true slipknot fan ? I dont know if I am. And frankly.. I dont care. I appreciate their music and enjoy listening to it. Bite me if im wrong |
| Slipknot – Confessions Lyrics | 23 years ago |
Waster is right, and so is Streea. The intention of the song is that its a letter froma father to his son he have never seen, given to him at the time of the sons first change. Its about the Werewolf : The Apocalypse game |
| Slipknot – Gently Lyrics | 23 years ago |
It is about the umbra in WtA (Werewolf the Apocalypse) In the game, Its the spirit world that overlies mundane reality, which the werewolves can enter to rest, seek answers and search for solutions that cannot be found in the real world. |
| Slipknot – Killers Are Quiet Lyrics | 23 years ago |
Like the song "slipknot" this song is about the roleplaying game Werewolf: The Apocalypse For those who are familiar with the game.. it seems to hint at an embraced werewolf. A so called abomination. My guess anyway. |
| Metallica – Low Man's Lyric Lyrics | 23 years ago |
So as I write to you, yeah What is dawning to do, yeah? Maybe you'll understand And won't cry for this man 'cause low man is due Please forgive me Please forgive me to me..it sounds like he sings "what is done and to do" instead of dawning. Which makes more sense..particularly with the suicide theme. But I could be wrong, english is not my second language after all :) |
| Metallica – Low Man's Lyric Lyrics | 23 years ago |
To me, its about hitting buttom of society and of yourself. The realization of what you have fallen to, and the desire to end it. |
| Metallica – The Shortest Straw Lyrics | 23 years ago |
This song is downright awesome. It rocks and the lyrics are good. From what i read somewhere, it was about the communist-hunts (witchhunts almost) in the US during the cold war. But the theme and song is valid to this day |
| Metallica – Wherever I May Roam Lyrics | 23 years ago |
Assuming its about touring is obvious and might very well be true, though, as so many Metallica songs, it can be used to symbolize other things as well, like a nomadic life, as a song about not letting yourself be tied / pinned down etc. Thats the great part abuot Metallica. Their songs have wide appeal and you can often find a personal meaning |
| Metallica – Blitzkrieg (Blitzkrieg cover) Lyrics | 23 years ago |
Blitzkrieg is the art of warfare where you attack rapidly, penetrating the enemy lines and crushing his armies before he can react, hitting him with both tanks and aircraft, leaving the slowmoving infantry to mop up the remains -history buff |
| Metallica – Disposable Heroes Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| The song is about war in general I think. It could be ww1, ww2, korea, vietnam or any other modern conflict. | |
| Metallica – Of Wolf And Man Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| If anyone reading this have played the roleplaying game Werewolf : The Apocalypse....this could the theme song :) | |
| Stabbing Westward – Angel Lyrics | 23 years ago |
At first i dismissed this song since i wasnt so keen on the music of it. I prefer SW's harder songs. When i listened to it..i almost cried. I got burned in love...very badly...and was jaded and depressed. Now I have the most wonderfull girl loving me. The sun does shine occasionally :) |
| Fear Factory – Obsolete Lyrics | 23 years ago |
While lyrically simple, and it really need to be heard within the context of the album to make a lot of sense, this is by far my favourite Fear Factory song. |
| Disturbed – Down with the Sickness Lyrics | 23 years ago |
What the author of the song intended, and what it means to people is two different things. Music always takes on its own meaning for different people. To me the song symbolize personal abuse and anger rather than a society-based one. But thats just what it makes me feel. And as a sidenote...the music just plain rocks :) |
| The Cranberries – Zombie Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| As an addition...1916 and Somme was also where tanks were used for the first time. Just listened to the song again and noticed the Tanks reference ;) | |
| The Cranberries – Zombie Lyrics | 23 years ago |
I'd say that the 1916 reference could also be to the first world war. 1916 saw the battles of Verdun and Somme. Somme still stands as the battle in history with the most casualties..the british lost 60.000 soldiers in one day alone. Terrible, pointless bloodbaths which should never be forgotten |
| Bloodhound Gang – Take The Long Way Home Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I like this song a lot. Its seriousminded in a not-so-serious way. And yeah..live life while you have it | |
| Blink-182 – Dammit Lyrics | 23 years ago |
Im no big fan of Blink 182 but you have to give credit where its due, and this song strikes the heart of me. But I guess we've all been here havent we ? |
| Bad Religion – Tiny Voices Lyrics | 23 years ago |
I see the song as being more about the thousands of people that perished in the past, in hunger, trenches, disease or other misery. "it screams of forgotten victims and their cries of innocence, and their desperate plea for recognition and recompense " The ghosts of the past which we shouldnt forget in this day |
| Bad Religion – Punk Rock Song Lyrics | 23 years ago |
If there ever was to only be one Bad Religion song to be preserved forever, this would be it. Not because of the musical quality (though it does kick ass ;) ) but because its so true. |
| Bad Religion – News from the Front Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I like this song. Makes you think of the great wars of history and how the ideals that we are made fight for arent our own | |
| Bad Religion – No Direction Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| And how raising people to become demi-god icons is a bad thing. Because they cant live your life and solve your problems | |
| Bad Religion – Infected Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I figure its about unhealthy relationships allright. How two people keep driving each other into desperation and abuse. But being addicted to each other, neither has the strength or willpower to break away | |
| Bad Religion – Epiphany Lyrics | 23 years ago |
This song is in my oppinion one of the all-time best BR songs (and it takes a lot before anything can rival Parallel for that :) ) I think the song revolves around realization of our failures. Maybe not just as society but on ahuman level as well. We are realizing that we arent headed where we thought we were. The priomises become a lie |
| Bad Religion – Don't Sell Me Short Lyrics | 23 years ago |
Give everyone the time to express themselves, and give them the respect they deserver as humans. |
| Bad Religion – Change of Ideas Lyrics | 23 years ago |
More than likely..it will not. I like the references to how we hide in our present situation instead of looking outside it and ourselves |
| Bad Religion – Billy Lyrics | 23 years ago |
Its a personal song at least. I like it a lot, since one of my friends nearly went into drug addiction. And it reflects the descent into decay well |
| Bad Religion – Big Bang Lyrics | 23 years ago |
Plain and simple a great song. :) The meanings are pretty obvious, but valid nevertheless Rebel, rise up against the oppressive future ahead |
| Bad Religion – Better Off Dead Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Go with the world and the people around you and work with them, not against them. | |
| Bad Religion – Automatic Man Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Its a great song. Rocks :) And its pretty obvious yeah | |
| Bad Religion – Against the Grain Lyrics | 23 years ago |
The way society is straightjacketing people into popular beliefs and how individuality and the need to question and rebel is becoming lost in mainstream trends. I think :) |
| At the Gates – Blinded By Fear Lyrics | 23 years ago |
The music was what drew me to this song. Normally i dont like black metal but it just got a furious drive :) The lyrics are pretty plain. Damnation / death / rebirth seems to be the most prevalent themes |
