I've been listening to his new album lately and am pleasantly surprised. After thoroughly enjoying Soundgarden and Audioslave's heavier material, the thought of Cornell doing pop and ballads didn't appeal to me much but I must say the album's songwriting and catchiness more than makes up for it. This is one of my favourite songs on the album, he sings it with passion and you can tell it's a very personal song to him. I think the lyric "we can rip the night out of the arms of the sun" perfectly captures that moment when you've had a great night with someone and you don't want it to end - when the sun comes up and another day starts, you're scared that you'll never experience that feeling again. |
