| No further comments on the song, but to Mike. About that screaming you miss, there's a part in "Saylor Lake" about 2 minutes in where he says, "to place a panicked phone call". I don't know if you noticed but in the front he's doing his new "whiney talking" voice, but in the background you can hear him belting out one of his old school screams that are so awesome. | |

Mike I like your idea for the shadows part. Pretty creative. The earth sinking part is really confusing. The only comparison I can think of that makes sense is like, when the sun sets, or at night, people suddenly start doing all the 'sinful' things that they hide during the day. Like hiring hookers for example. They 'sink' morally. I really wish there was a forum for this whole event on DDG's site or something so we didn't all have to abuse the song meanings site. =P |

I can't gather many clues from the main part of this song. Most of them come from the last paragraph. "You're all the fucking same. Worthless and waiting for a savior, That was there all along." My take on this one is, all the people in the town are looking for some miracle to stop the murders, and none of them have faith in the police dept. If the murderer is really a cop like I think, this would offend him. He's saying that he (as the cop) could've been the savior all along, but of course he isn't going to try to catch himself (as the murderer). As for the endnig, the camera part confuses me. I'm not sure what cameras he's talking about. But, "I thought that I wanted this, but now I'm terribly mistaken for a fake." probably means that whatever point he was trying to make by killing all these people was lost on the town. No one understood his motives, and now he doesn't see the point in going on. |

Sticking to my latest theory about having a female accomplice that he got rid of in "45223", and by looking at what appears to be a police badge hanging from the chair on the cover of the album, here's my idea for this one. The killer is either a cop, or ex-cop. He knows the business, and he's pretty confident that he's not going to get caught now that he got rid of his partner. "Go tell this town I've built them all their coffins. As for this face, best it be forgotten." He's basically talking to himself. Bragging a bit and deciding to lay low so he won't become a suspect. "Baby, baby, I've got a reason to leave, but I'm not going far." He's going to leave town so that he'll slip under the radar a bit. But he's going to stay close so he can keep killing. "Hells on it's way, no one's gonna stop it. I wear this suit, no one's gonna top me." Again, bragging. The suit part is a reference to his police uniform. I think... The chains and the firing blanks totally stumps me. I don't see what that means. Maybe that all the suspicions of the people in town are wrong, they're "firing blanks" when naming possible killers. Here2solve nailed the night life part I think. "I drift from town to town across the nation. Praise the lord, lock and load boys. We go down, we go down, we go down together." No idea. Someone please figure this part out for me. |

Ok new theory. The killer was spurred on by a girl this whole time. She was behind the scenes telling him what to do, but now he's turned on her. Possibly because she betrayed him in some way. "You take to heart the cruelty of the game that YOU'VE created." "Where'd ya get that body?" Maybe she went back to one of the victims after he had done his part, and jeopardized their plans, so he decided to take her out of the picture. Now he's going to burn her body, so that the same mistake won't be made again. "Now the lust has lost its pleasure. Spilling guts, guess this is closure." He no longer gets off on raping his victims, he'd rather make a bloody kill. |

| I'm starting to think the murderer didn't plan to kill all these girls at first, but rather every girl he dates, he finds a flaw in and thinks he has to kill them. The "not again" lines make it seem like he either regrets having to kill them, or is at least disappointed that they all turn out unworthy in his eyes. This doesn't match his attitude in "It's Pretty Hard To Beat The King" though, because there he seems like he's doing it all on purpose to gain fame (or infamy). | |

| Eizoh your description is pretty damn good. I'm not sure about either of the previous victims being his wife though, because like you said that would make him a suspect. Definately not the 2nd victim because the police report said she wasn't married. Maybe he was dating them though, and if he was planning to keep killing like I think he was, then he'd have to date more than one at a time to gain their trust in time to get all 12 murders in the 11 month time frame. Maybe this girl and the girl from "Drawing the Devil" will come close together time wise and end up being our "double homicide". | |

Okay I sort of think the Pastor was her dad too. This is really stepping out on a limb but could it be that the girl killed her father the Pastor? "Behind your devilish figure, behold the smoking gun." Perhaps she was abused by him. Maybe he wouldn't let her date or marry a person she liked, and she saw this as hypocritical because he was the one to wed so many other people. So she killed him and managed to get away with it. "And we believe nothing else unless there's proof of it." But even though she got away with it, most people knew she did it, so... "You seek out those who forgive." Maybe that was the main murderer's motive to kill the girl. As for the "we", it could have more meaning that I've missed, but maybe the killer is just skitso. I'm not sure what the laughter alludes to either. |

The lyrics to this song are pretty straight forward. They match the info on the micro site really well. The only thing that I don't quite get is "A poet you lived". I wonder if this is there as a clue or simply to go along with linking the blood to paint and calling her an "artist". Though there's not much to back it up, I have a couple of ideas for the storyline from this song. "I failed to recognize my hand as part of the problem." This is either the murderer showing denial of what he's done or sarcasm because he knows he's going to get away with it. |
