I think the "a friend who bleeds is better" could be more about emotional pain, physical pain but basically that he enjoys people who suffer too. The test I think could be pretty much anything and pregnancy seems a bit too simple. Could be because she "bleeds" to and he sees this as some kind of test. Also I don't think this is necessarily about one relationship, like the stream of consciousness comment early, I think it may be more a cumulation of his relationships with his friends and lovers. |

This song is absolutely incredible. Mainly because as songs go it manages to be graphic and aggressive outwardly whilst retaining the sadness and self hatred inwardly; sadly amplified by relationships:

On another and perhaps darker level it retains its humour. Although shocking at first the temptation to giggle whilst eminem impersonates his wife is irresistible. Shock and the ridiculous mix within this song which perhaps makes it easier to swallow at first and more importantly makes it more easy to relate to as horrific and graphic murder is described in everything from humorous to pitiful to fucking scary tones. |

When I first heard this song I thought it said "A job that slowly kills you, who says that wont hurt". I know thats not right but it stuck with the tone of the song. I think its a sad acceptance of everyday life but at the same time acknowledging the alarms and surprises that make it so sad. And well the "bruises that dont heal" i guess basically means the same as things just wearing you down, especially everyday life. |
