felip3 is the one right in there .. stop arguing, it's a hell of a song, just listen ... floyd wrote their music in a time of very deep spiritual crysis, that's also how The Wall came along, and the theme is recurrent, madness because we lose contact with out peers, because we become like machines, heartless .. they describe love very well with the words "leave, but don't leave me, look around, choose your ground" - that is, give me liberty and I give you liberty, but we keep in touch and we don't have to be physically together, but in spirit .. "smiles you give and tears you'll cry, all you touch and all you see, is all your life will ever be" ... without feelings we're void, meaningless, without a purpose, and we end up without anything tangible in our past when we meet The Final Curtain .. I guess they are plainly ironical in the end, with the wabbit digging holes endlessly, mindlessly, forgetting the laughter and joy ("forget the sun") ... balanced on the biggest wave, we are like living dead, stalking the earth but we have nothing to say .. great song, almost hypnotic. |
