I honestly do not see this as a song about Christ. I heard it for and instantly thought of a person who had in one way or another betrayed thier lover/friend and have found that they can't live with themselves and they are asking for forgivness. But of course, I have been told many times that I am Hell bound because I do not belive in "God and his prominant Son" So who truly knows. We can interpret this song in a million and one ways, but only one person can tell us what it truly means. And that's Amy. This song is one of her best and is by far my most loved song. And the song title could be the month or time of the betrayle or the moment she recieved forgiveness. Or who knows, it could be the name of the person she's seeking forgiveness from. Just my two-cents. |

I could be wrong but for some reason I always think of a mother singing this to a child she tried so hard to never let go of. Suicide seems to also immediatly pop into my mind. Possibly the child was addicted to drugs or mentally/terminally ill. The mother tried her best to protect her and the child couldn't take the pain and left her alone. She feels like she failed and is the one asking for forgiveness. Regardless, the song is beautiful and is one of my fave WT songs. |

Ok, for everyone who is going nuts over the lyrics there are two versions of the song. The album version which has the lyrics "Would you mind if I hurt you/ understand that I need to/wish that I had other choices/then to hurt the one I love/ What have you done now!" And then there is the radio version which skips that entirely and goes into the second verse.
I believe that the song is about two people who love eachother but just aren't meant to be together. And just all together end up hating eachother, but still stays together because they can't seem to live without the other. I love you, but I hate you. I hate you then I love you kinda relationship. |
