| Built to Spill – Nowhere Nothin' Fuckup Lyrics | 14 years ago |

i love this song, but it's funny how much has been revealed to be taken from something else the more i look into it. the lyrics are all from "oh! sweet nuthin" by the velvet underground, and the title/chorus is from that philip k. dick book. from the first listen though i should have suspected this, none of the lyrics really sound like doug's usual style. it's still a cool song |

definitely seems to be about cloning/dualism. if you rebuilt arkansas and made it the same dimension and shape as the original, down to the degree, would it be arkansas? or is there something else that makes it arkansas? etc, etc. one of my favorites from state songs, maybe even from john linnell. |

| Muse – Thoughts of a Dying Atheist Lyrics | 18 years ago |

uh well i thought it was obvious but ok here itr goes in my opinion "look through a faithless eye are you afraid to die?" explains the entire meaning of the song basically he is asking the person if they are afraid to die because they have no faith, so nowhere to go when they do die. that's why it scares the hell out of him, the end is all he is thinking about (seeing) the rest of the song is confusing and i think either i just dont get the metaphors or amtt's just making up some filler actually i just got the idea that in the lines "Eerie whispers trapped beneath my pillow won't let me sleep your memories and I know you're in this room I'm sure I heard you sigh Floating in between where our worlds collide" he is probably referring to some loved one that he lost since he is an atheist, he wont ever see his loved one again, even in death, because he doesnt believe in it. the part about where their worlds collide and sighing is probably referring to the person he is missing haunting him or something i don't know |

the song itself i have no idea about BUT im not very good at deciphering song meanings as for the fact that this song is completely different than most of muse's work, i agree that its cool that they are trying new stuff, but its a little too poppy for my taste. not bad just not great. also i know im leaving replies to people that posted comments over a year ago but, knights of cydonia isnt fucking pop ok, it doesnt even sound poppish FUCK YOU |

| Farther Snake – The Spook of Haunt Mansion Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think this is about common man's inability to affect change in a corporatised and globalised world where western paternalistic disposable culture is crushing the integrity of our heritage and breeding addictive behaviours of addiciton to meaningless commercialism and mindless consumerism without thought for the impact on the fragile balance of our already fractured and strained eco system or our plans to free ourselves from our reliance on polluting non renewable energy resources | |
