This song reminds me of the kids behind school shootings. I think it's talking about those loner, "outsider" types who are always by themselves. The misanthropes who are bullied and carry this chip on their shoulder. When it says "disconnect and self destruct one bullet at a time" it may be referring to stuff like Columbine. And the whole song might be saying, you know, if you have those problems don't take that out on others; take it out on yourself somewhere else. |

This song may very well be about Courtney, or one of Cobain's other love interests. Well, specifically it may be about the concept of an abusive relationship caused directly by an emotionally immature partner. I've thought long and hard about this song and it definately reminds me of my best--and worst--relationship. The song switches back and forth between describing a naive lover who is being taken advantage of someone who wants attention and affection like a parasite--the other person in the relationship. This song's lyrics really speak to me because my boyfriend and I were JUST like that. The sad part is that -I- was the abusive one, and only realized it after it was all over. |
