Regina Spektor – Daniel Cowman Lyrics 15 years ago
This could be a reference to Daniel Johnston, who wrote the song "Walking the Cow" a metaphor for the weight of the world.

Bob Dylan – You Ain't Goin' Nowhere Lyrics 17 years ago
i think this song projects a struggle with getting by in day-to-day life. it seems to me the lyrics are very desperate, except in the chorus where he forces himself to think that tomorrow his bride will come (or his "light will shine" - however you want to look at it)

Bob Dylan – Bob Dylan's 115th Dream Lyrics 18 years ago
Great, hilarious song. Definitely a funny criticism of American culture. I think my favorite part is when Dylan pulls down his pants when asked for collateral. Dylan just had a way with words.

The Flaming Lips – She Don't Use Jelly Lyrics 18 years ago
I personally don't think this is definitely about being poor. Wouldn't it be cheaper to use a sleeve than a magazine? However great artists purposely choose words for other undertones, like the sexual undertones that are fairly obvious in this song. I personally think it's more about the diversity of individuality in people. The third verse really cracks me up. I get a crystal clear image of the girl. Orange has elements of red (energy) and yellow (happiness), and combined represents enthusiasm. Notice she wants her hair to be REAL orange. I just particularly like this verse the most.

What really irritates me is the fact that many posters have said "there isn't deep meaning, its just a song." Maybe Fallout Boy is your calling, but The Flaming Lips are a brilliant bunch, and I wouldn't discredit them so easily.
