| Elliott Smith – Miss Misery Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I never thought of Miss Misery being a person or even a metaphorical person for something. I know he was playing on the words "miss misery" to be seen as a person, but I think what he literally meant by "do you miss me, miss misery like you say you do?" was you say you miss me, but I am miserable. As in Elliott (or the narrator) is misery. Not miss misery, but misery itself. And the narrator is asking, almost sarcastically, if they really do miss being with this miserable person. Sorry, that was hard to explain but I think you get it. | |
| Elliott Smith – Dancing on the Highway Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I never realized that the melody to this song is at the end of "In The Lost And Found". | |
| Elliott Smith – True Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Hate to add a comment twice, but I also hear "she was madly in love, a mad mean" rather than "She was madly in love or mad at me" | |
| Elliott Smith – True Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The ending sounds kind of like "take my up my lord" rather than "my love". Anyone else hear lord? | |

| Elliott Smith – King's Crossing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"It don't matter because I have no sex life All I want to do now is inject my ex-wife I've seen the movie And I know what happens" Ex-wife must mean heroin or cocaine. Drugs were his old way of happiness and he got over them. But now all he wants to do his go back to them. "It's Christmas time And the needles on the tree A skinny Santa is bringing something to me His voice is overwhelming But his speech is slurred And I only understand every other word" Skinny Santa is a slang term for drug dealer. "Open your parachute and grab your gun Falling down like an omen, a setting sun Read the part and return at five It's a hell of a role if you can keep it alive But I don't care if I fuck up I'm going on a date With a rich white lady Ain't life great? Give me one good reason not to do it (Because we love you) So do it" Could mean suicide, could mean doing coke. The white lady makes it seem like doing coke, but this part makes it seem like suicide: "This is the place where time reverses Dead men talk to all the pretty nurses Instruments shine on a silver tray Don't let me get carried away Don't let me get carried away Don't let me be carried away" His interpretation of the after-life. Once he is dead, he will live in a beautiful world where instruments (musical instruments) are everywhere. He may have been addicted to drugs, but he loved music. This is why I don't think instruments refer to needles or anything. And it sounds so amazing he just can't stop talking about how great it will be. "Don't let me get carried away" |

| Elliott Smith – A Passing Feeling Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I always heard it as: "Still I sinned all the time" and not "Still I send all the time" Sinned makes more sense to me. |

| Elliott Smith – Crazy Fucker Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Sounds to me like this song is about his child abuse. Elliott is the crazy fucker from the south, and his step-dad is the one who doesn't want to "hear no stupid screaming little half-assed middle class boy". | |
