A story about a guy who's basically obsessed with his girlfriend? And then, it switches to first person and describes his lack of restraint when he's in another place. He wants to call her, and leaves the "you are my sunshine" message on her machine, and the line "dug my teeth into my knees" means that he was resisting driving back; he settled for the phone call. Then, he kisses someone else, a girl who was abused by her father, we can assume. The storm/thunder maybe represents the repercussions of his actions? I know I'm missing a lot, this is a quick analysis. Anyway, his reference to time has to do with everything, basically. His time away from the girl, his time with the other girl, etc etc. This is an amazing song, and I love it to death |

I think it's about escaping and going against someone's wishes to be with the person you loved...just, "intertwined" and "undiscovered" where there are no rules, nothing to be expected, nothing to stop you. I first of all, love this song. And second of all: I had this song dedicated to me...once. It was by a boy who I had just met. To me, the song applied to our situation almost to a T. We were contacts strictly through IM, until recently, when we finally met ("I've been waiting for this moment"). But, my other friend was there, and sort of ruined the situation, by hogging him, in a way ("But it's not quite right") I'm also a very shy person (I've been waiting for the silence) so I wasn't expecting much. So. For me, the song is personal, referring to friends who have just met, and the meeting isn't what they would think. |
