okay i'm hoping this is the final verdict on this song...i have almost every part of it figured out 100% The first verse shows a soldier who has been fighting for quite a while now. he is used to seeing the things around him and because of this he feels dead inside, hes used to feeling a terrible feeling and is ready to keep fighting. people on here are confused if he says violent or violin...its violence...."count me in, violence, let's begin feeding the sickness" just clearly states hes ready for another round of all he has learned to know. how do i simplify dislocate the enemies on the way? this shows he wants to forget and rid of the images of the soldiers he has killed b/c they haunt him show me what its like to dream in black and white so i can leave this world tonite petergriffin16 was right on this one about him wanting to be able to find peace in what he is doing so he can rest at night...once again the people he is killing and the violence around him is haunting him. he wants to just be able to look at it in a simpler way. full of fear, ever clear i'll be here, fighting forever curious, venomous you'll find me climbing to heaven this is him talking about being at war in general...it seems like an eternity....curious, and venomous represents how he has learned to feel about killing and going through the war...every gun battle he is in he is one step closer to heaven nevermind, turn back time you'll be fine, i will get left behind he is telling his soldiers to fall back here and let him go on by himself in order to spare their lives...he doesn't want to see them die on top of everything else he has seen the verse after the next chorus: holding on too tight breathe the breath of life so i can leave this world behind its a metaphor that shows the memories not letting go of him rather than him not letting go of the memories...he can't fight them and he just wants to breathe again and leave the world of violence and pain hes stuck in It only hurts just once they're only broken bones hide the hate inside This is him talking to himself...hes trying to convince himself that what he is doing is okay, its what has to be done...its just a way to try to make it easier on himself after killing someone... the rest of the song are repeat lyrics...i hope i helped everyone understand... please stop saying stupid shit about this song. Ben Burnley's lyrics always have deep meaning and his lyrics always make sense. he doesn't write suicidal and sublimal lyrics either. if you really listen to any song he has ever written and recorded it has something to do with what he has lived through or sees around him. hes not gonna write about bullies or suicide...even if there are some things that could be compared to that in his lyrics theres always something that contradicts that theory. If one verse doesn't fit w/ the next you're wrong. Its about war people....a present day soldier sittin in Iraq, fighting for his country, seeing death all around him, and he's seen so much of it thats all hes starting to know. He'll be "there" fighting forever. Whether hes there or at home, it'll always be in his dreams...he wants to dream in black and white so it doesn't fuck w/ him. PERIOD. ~Kap~ |

Great song....BB is simply the greatest band EVER! i've had every album from the minute they released and i wouldn't have it any other way :D |
