i REALLY adore this song. & i'm pretty sure i got the meaning (but naturally i could be wrong) i think its about a relationship that was going really great but maybe some doubts were arising... hence why he's questioning the legitimacy of their love... by asking "did we really fall in love" that it would be great if she was "the one" but there's the possibility that they are all wrong. it's that or she dumped him & he's sort of upset that she should have been the one but ... then he wonders if he is right... basic interpretation but either way i think it's a GREAT song & sort of reminds me of 500 days of summer ... though it doesnt sound like any of the songs in the movie at allll... but it reminds of the jist of the story. |

wow i'm the first to comment? anyways i love this song! maybe it's not going to be like top ten, suppose it's a guilty pleasure song? anyways what i think it means: this guy has strong feelings... (love) for this girl (or guy) and he wants her/him to "wake up" cause he's been "waiting for you to open your eyes" to his love... he's ready for whatever will happen between them and ready to go where life takes them... cause when you let go (of maybe the past?) life takes you where maybe you never thought it would. sort of like just living without a plan... living like this day's your last... and he's saying though it maybe be scary it's the best thing you could do, to actualyl LIVE. sort of like what dwight says in little miss sunshine... do what you want and fuck the rest! i love this song! |

i think like what schneeber is right but also probably talking about the girlfriend as well. i know how it feels to be dumped by someone you love so much... and everyone just tells you to move on, but you really just wanna go back and hold on to the little shreds you have left... idk it's just a thought, but i adore this song. |

i think that the singer of this song is maybe going off to war... maybe a draft, he has to go and he doesn't want to leave her behind, he loves her so much and wants her to be strong for him. and he's saying no matter what he will always be with her, either if he dies or lives he'll be with her spiritually. amazing song |
