I acutally think this is about a guy who finally met the girl that changes him and "wakes him up" ("Used to watch this game from the sidelines, now it's time to get on in and play"). He doesn't recognize himself - hence "Who's that with his arm around you? He's making eyes at you that way, he looks in love, he looks familiar - Damn, that's me." He is saying that who he used to be is gone now because he met her and he knows now what everyone was talking about... |
