right, to start; "there's too much business in this. i'm going back to my garage. i have been completely disenchanted" i think this lyric is saying that we shouldn't be phased by how 'mainstream' a band are, it doesnt matter how 'well known' they are, it should be about the music, and the message the band are trying to spread "im going back to my garage" obviously is reminisant of the time when the band were just starting out and they sung about what mettered to them, without worrying about the business of it all. "our music: rewrite not a single line" here i think they're trying to say, they won't be influenced by anyone, whether it be a label or anyone else, they're going to stick to what they believe in. "in this vast network of sharks and minnows, where the minnows outnumber the sharks a million to one, why is it that we have yet to converge? to take on the upperhand? why have we been so scared?" this lyrics refers to the big labels as the 'sharks' and the small bands as 'minnows'. i think what they're trying to say here is the bands should stick together so the labels can't get the upperhand and change the meaning of their music. the bands shouldnt be influenced by deals etc, they should just keep doing what they do because they have a love fore it. one last thing, but this one im stuck on, what are they trying to say by "judged only by my hands." i cant get it! |
