I agree this song could be about classism, or possibly the lack of relativity between the current generation and the previous. Good song though! |

| Belle & Sebastian – You Don't Send Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Back in the 50's it used to be popular to say he/she "Sends Me" if you were in love/lust with them. There is even a song called "You Send Me" by Sam Cooke. So, knowing that I suppose this song is about the exact opposite of that. I also think this song is a bit spiteful and playfully rude. He's saying, look get over it, I don't give a flying fuck about you anymore. The people in the song must've had the same group of friends and obviously the break-up between them has split the group which the girl in the song is upset about but the singer doesn't care, because that's what eventually happens to all clicks. Overall, i.m.o this is a really fun song about a guy telling a girl to get over herself. |

| Belle & Sebastian – If You're Feeling Sinister Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song is very interesting... I agree with one of the pp that this song is not sang in chronological order. Here is my interpretation... There are two people who reallly haven't gotten far enough in their lives yet to find out who they really are. Instead of embarking on that journey they both look for outward sources of self rather than looking inward. In the end they both commit suicide because you can't find faith in anything if you don't have faith in yourself. Anthony, a young boy (possibly from Lord Anthony) has no idea who he really is, and one day has an experience that makes him feel alive. Fearing that he'll never have that feeling again he commits suicide. Hillary a young girl with no direction goes to a Catholic Church for guildance. She's overwhelmed by the religion and can't find herself the one place she thought to be sacred; reason being because she didn't actually do that work to learn who she was, she depended on the church to tell her. She ends up on some shotty tv show and kills herself shortly after. |

| Belle & Sebastian – Stay Loose Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| My interpretation of this song is a guy in a relationship with a woman who has no aspirations of her own. She just wants the two of them to be together, and that is enough for her. While he wants to grow and learn more about his beliefs/faiths/who he really is, she is complacent with her life as it is. This frustrates him and makes him wonder how they can be together when he's growing and she's not. | |
| Belle & Sebastian – Lord Anthony Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song is definitely about an intelligent, affeminate teenage boy who is severely picked on at school. He dresses up as a girl at home and dreams of walking the streets as his true self and not being an outcast. As for the above post, I agree with you to a point, except that the song is about one person who has two personas, one being private and hidden. This song is not about your average teenager, but then again I've never really heard a B&S song about a "normal" adolesence. Regardless I love this song. |

| Belle & Sebastian – Expectations Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is great, especially for the younger crowd of kids who may feel odd and outcasted. I'm much older, but it reminds me of my highschool career. It's very relative and soothing to know you're not the only weirdo teenager out there. | |
| Belle & Sebastian – If You Find Yourself Caught in Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This is my very favorite B&S song. I love the beginning and then the explosion into catchy positive lyrics. I love all the synical remarks subtly peppered in with the God talk. I think it's funny how someone dare mention God in a song and everyone gets uncomfortable. Religion is a part of life, and so what if B&S mention God in some of their songs. It doesn't making them raving Bible thumpers, they're just putting all the parts of life together. |

| Davidbeauy I love your interpretation. It's exactly the scene that plays out in my head everytime I hear the song. It's so melodramatic and campy as you had said, I just love it. What a fun song, although purely evil, much fun! | |
| Morrissey – Now My Heart Is Full Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I never really thought about this song being about suicide. Although I do agree that it seems to be about the characters in Brighton Rock don't you ever find yourself falling in love and being swept away by a book or a movie or even a song? In my opinion this song is about that experience. In fact when I listen to this song, it happens to me... | |
| Joshua Radin – Star Mile Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I just wanted to add that I do agree this song is definitely about a guy who gets famous and abuses the one true love he's always had. She leaves and he retreats back to Hollywood; not because he wants to, but because he can't bare being without her. My previous post was just what it means for me. Wonderful, sad, lonely, song. I love it. | |
| Joshua Radin – Star Mile Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song reminds me of my life. I am in love with a man who keeps his heart hidden because of his illness. He's afraid to love, but is so good to me and makes me so happy that I can't help but be completely in love with him. I wonder, one day will I finally get tired of waiting around and walk away? Will he regret never grabbing on to what might've been the best love he ever had? He tells me, "If I wasn't sick, we'd be married right now." It's funny, he played this song for me... But I don't think he understood it's meaning. I wonder if someday he'll this song will be about him. | |
| Joshua Radin – Paperweight (with Schuyler Fisk) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'm utterly and helplessly addicted to this song. It's quite possibly the most romantic song I've ever experienced. It really is quite an experience too, the song just lulls you into that feeling you get when you're falling in love. I miss that feeling... | |
