This song makes me cry all the freakin' time. This guy that I was very good friendswith/almost dated really liked Linkin Park. My favorite band is Alkaline Trio...So I got hime into Alk3, and he got me back into Linkin Park. He had Cystic Fibrosis, and he passed away a month ago today. He set this as his profile song on MySpace when he got sent home from the hospital, so it almost always makes me tear up, if I'm really thinking about it....Linkin Park, you amaze me. |

If any of you actually own the album Remains, Matt Skiba said that the song is about "A childhood friend who confided in him about abuse."
I love this song so much. It's one of the few songs I can actually listen to on Repeat and not get sick of it. |

I think it means that this guy did something really good, "being King for the day" and everyone hates him for it. Maybe they wish he would hurry up and die or something...."You know these streets, they lay there patiently
Awaiting your fall, like a phone call". They sit there and wait for something bad to happen to him. He dies, and his friends really miss him. The guy who writes all the stuff in the dirt ends up killing himself. "Here lies X's for eyes on me and you."

Against Me! did NOT sell out. If you're a doctor, are you going to want to do every examination or surgery for FREE? I would think not. You're going to want recognition and get rewarded for your hard work. If a certain doctor gets a promotion, and gets to work at this HUUUUGE hosptal, are you going to call them a "sell-out" because they're only in it for the money? I'm sure the doctor wants to do his/her job: HELPING PEOPLE. The bigger the hospital, the more people they get to help. It's the same matter with a band. They want to be heard. They want recognition for their hard work. You guy are idiots if you think they "Sold-out."
But on a lighter note, this song is so real that it scares me. My cousin is JUST LIKE the girl in the song. She's into drugs, she's a hardcore drinker, and now she's in her 30's and has never been married, |

I bought it just for this song, too. I'm hopelessly obsessed. I love the lines, "Don't pray for me, one dy you'll find I'm sleeping in my urn feeling just fine." There's a boy at my school who's ALWAYS hacking on me because I'm Catholic. He's one of those overly-assertive religiout people....I'm only Catholic by force; my parents make me go to Church...I get nothing out of it. So Alkaline Trio has inspired me to try to convince him that I'm a Satanist. |
