I think that the song is about the bastard child of a man. When he sees her smile or her eyes she brings up the guilt he has for the sin he committed. She grows up with the knowledge that she is illegitimate. A lot of children coming out of these situations grow up depressed and perform acts of self-mutilation and even sometimes suicide. She is trapped into the same life her father lead by the poor example he has shown. The fact that she also has pre-marital sex with partners not her own depresses her even further. |
