Do you know what would be absolutely amazing, i picture this. Green day performs this song live and it starts off with Billie playing piano and singing with his guitar behind him on his back and then after those last few notes, he gets up, walks to the microphone, and then continues to rock out haha. How great would that be?. |

for some reason these lyrics really stand out to me. "i'm tired, this games so dumb, she never played, her race is won". It stands out really well when tom sings it. i dont really know what it means though, maybe tired of playing all her little games over and over in your head. Im a big fan of Box Car Racer's music. |

Those drum beats at the start sound like the very start of dont leave me by Blink 182. I Empire is a brilliant album, it seems like tom gave us more of an insight to his personal life for this cd, especially on "Rite of Spring" |

At 1:12 When tom says " i think i like today, i think it's good...it's something i can't get my head around". that line really stood out for me, gave me chills cause i thought of him writing this song about blink and his new found AVA passion. |

this song was originally going to be named "shoulda got caught" but was changed to "Asthenia" which is the breakdown of life in space where you believe you have nothing on the earth worth coming back for. Quote Tom Delonge:
"This song is about one thing only, an astronaut sitting in a space capsule about the size of a car, floating above the earth. He's contemplating if even coming back or not will make a difference on such a negative place. A song about the loss of hope. A term was coined for the breakdown of life in space and it is called Asthenia, the name of the track."

this album was far better musically than anything they have ever done before. this song obviously has a deeper meaning that we probably wont understand but mark has a backing track added at 2:26 that faintly says:
"Who'll stand by your side? So watch my eyes. Watch 'em turn while you go change. Curtains down. When all their skill was cut, and I bled. There were forces of John Jones. I can't make you happy. It seems all I ever do is try. You could never cut me deep enough to leave a scar. So take this gift. It's something to save".

of course this song is about aliens, paranormal activity and what not, but it looks like tom needed a song to tell people what he felt about the existence of aliens, GOVERNMENT CONSPIRACY, " I know the CIA would say, what you hear is all hearsay, wish someone would tell me what was right". the line that everyone wants to know the truth about. so it looked like tom wanted to write this song to sing to people what he was dying to know instead of doing weird speeches in the middle of his concerts (*Cough* AVA). Well thats what i think anyway, thanks for reading. |
