To me this song is about love lost. Saint Augustine, the theologist, laid out the groundwork for the ideology of original sin, being, essentially, unavoidable sin or sin you are born with. Saint Augustine was also very influential in the teachings of salvation, redemption and deliverance. With that being said, I think the songwriter is refering to the girl he loved as being born with original sin. No matter how hard she tried, she couldnt escape her "curse." Hollywood is not used in the literal sense but figuratively for bigger, better things. Fire in the ground and dancing on the poison of their graves is refering to hell and all the demons associated with it. Maybe also tied into the girls inner demons, or maybe even his own. I also believe she would let her hair grow in order to escape her past in a bid to change. Lets bury ourselves and go haunt someone tonight is the ultimate form of love, possibly dying together and being cursed together. I believe he may also be refering to the city in FL but I really dont think its that literal. To me its a sad song about impossible love. Loving somebody who cant love you back. |
