i might be way off track here but i really am convinced that this song is actually about the "contrat social" french philosophers talk about... English: social contract where society is created in the world of men, where they agree to leave behind each part of his individuality to form a sort of interacting community, thus leaving behind a big part of our innocence "the naked angel in the snow" Will it finally melt in shame, seeing all the cruelty society causes? |

i think i finally figured out the meaning of this great song!! its like all of you are saying: it is the birth of a bad evil cruel creature, mankind. mother nature vs evil man. Mother nature always tried to give birth to better creatures, finally creating a creature that can love "I wished for pleasure, wished for love...", that can think, man. But she was wrong about us... She just forgot about our cruelty, about all the pain we can create : wars, pollution, murders... Its like planet hell in a way... anyway, in the end, and like all tuomas songs, hope finally finds its way through: "we shall wash....": innocence will be reborn again, innocence of man, innocence of the oceanborn, innocence of nature... of the whole world... |

this song just reminds of the main character in the movie: the perfume. though im convinced that tuomas didnt mean to writ about him, he draw a character that looks exactly alike, an ugly duckling who's always searching for love, for a beautiful felling... he envies all those people who can just live freely (wanting to make them fall)... he does seem psychotic in this verse... a really gr8 song. i recommand to everyone who likes it to read or watch the movie: the perfume, story of a murderer. |

My best nightwish song ever. The harmony between tarja's voice and Marco's in the back just gives me the chill every time. and i can really imagine the scene... i agree with tuomas writing this song about a fan and all. but we know tuomas!he got a message in it!! the remedy hes talking about is his survival in memories. nd he actually cant get that. cause memories fade... they always do. and people vanish.and thats it. on the other hand, another message that could actually be a whole life philosophy: why do we always think about the reason it happened. IT DID HAPPEN and we cant change it. what we can change is what weve leared from it, what weve gained. cause everything happens has a deep impact. i think thats he meant... |

| i recommand everyone who liked this song to read the book "eleven minutes" by Paulo Coelho. it was actually the only way i could understand the lyrics... | |
| Nightwish – 7 Days to the Wolves Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think this song is the best in all the album along with the poet and the pendulum. i agree with you guys on the meaning. i think what tuomas is saying is that everyone whos willing to live his life to the fullest must break out of the chains of fear, of norms, of prejudices... nd that he must accept all that happens with an open heart and hope. even suffering is a gr8 part of life. andi ts all that that makes you a human being (a hero). | |

i totally agree with krissychan on the homicide theory. but i think that what he wants is to die with her. so its suicide from him and homicide for her. just think about the first verse "running for her life"!! if she wanted suicide, why would she do that? I think that hes a "loner" poet in lack of inspiration, of beauty nd he thinks their death could save him and fill his pages. |

| Nightwish – The Islander Lyrics | 18 years ago |

somehow the islander reminds of GOD... I think that it's a person who has suffered enough to finally decide to leave everything behind and go to this island he admires. and somehow he turned into a person that no one can really become. kind of a god, protecting people from his tower, protecting the travellers through this journey of life. In Laggon, Tuomas says: "feeling lonely and content at the same time is a rare kind of happiness." Well, anw, thats what it seems to me. |

| Nightwish – Nemo Lyrics | 18 years ago |

i dont know if any of you has watched the nemo video (its a great one btw) but i couldnt help noticing all the crosses. I know most of you wouldnt hear of the religious implications of nightwish lyrics but heres how i would interpret the song: its about a person (man or woman, doesnt matter) whos losing faith and whos lost in the land of no beliefs and whos praying god or whoever it is to touch her with his love, to lead him onto the right path again, the path that would take him to real happiness. in the beginning of the video, tarja takes off her cross necklace and throws it in the snow , denying all that it means. But then, she finds herself alone and hopeless (lost in the dark, my loving heart...) so she does the impossible to break through again and to plant her cross in the snow, thus regaining her innocence and her love. She vanishes, finally finding "her true name" again. Great song anw. My first and best nightwish song ever. |
