James Taylor – Millworker Lyrics 17 years ago
I actually really enjoy this song. I heard he worked on this for a play and decided to put the track on his CD. Beautifully done... those damn drunken massholes.

my favourite part is the fact that jenny lewis is in it. I really like this song and the fact that the entire rilo kiley group is in the video, oh and winona ryder? haha i feel like he's a really funny down to earth guy.

Bright Eyes – First Day of My Life Lyrics 18 years ago
ok, so i hardly feel holy enough to comment on one of conor's songs, especially critiqueing and figuring out the meaning of this lyrics, however, i think the
'i'd rather be working for a paycheck, then waiting to win the lottery' quote is referring to either,

1. the fact that he might be done with having relationships that seem amazing for alittle while and then reality sets in. (for example, with the lottery you seem to be getting this big cash prize, but once taxes and such set in the sum is considerably less. And the relationship could seem to be amazing to begin with and then shortly afterwards reality sets in to show that this girl isn't his ideal girl)

or,

2. Mainly because he says the 'waiting' part, i feel like this could mean he'd rather just work on healthy relationships that he can have, rather than having to wait for his chance of meeting his dream girl, which realistically probably will never show up. (just like the chance of winning the lottery is so unlikely

god knows if that's even remotely true, one of my favourite bright eyes songs
