Between the Buried and Me – Obfuscation Lyrics 16 years ago
I think that this song is speaking most about being able to see through other's deception. The whole 'close one eye step to the side' is exactly like crackhead was saying up there, it's a way to change your perspective and see past what you first perceive.

If you've seen their short film that was recently released for this song, you'll notice that it involves a magician hypnotising people and messing with their minds and such. The song itself eludes to magicians like this;

'A magician's pure joy' - deceiving the audience
'A mind bend for the common folk' - the audience being deceived
'Follow the straight line...(A full house watching what we can't see)' - here it gets interesting. I remember from some documentary I watched that illusionists like to use this trick...basically, the human eye is more prone to follow a straight line than a curve. So, illusionists with make motions in a straight line when they want to divert your attention to one hand, while the other hand makes a curving motion with which they do whatever they didn't want you to see. I think this is actually what he's refering to, too much of a coincidence for it to be something else.

Just thought I'd through that out there for anyone bored enough to bother reading it all.

Demon Hunter – Incision Lyrics 17 years ago
The verses do seem to be talking about someone people have put much faith in only to be disappointed or lied to, but then when it gets to the chorus it seems to change.

I gave you every guiding word to cut it off;
And now you hand me back the blade
to make the first incision for you

This sounds like it's from God's perspective, like he's saying: If you want to be rid of your sin, you have to be the one to "cut it off", in other words, "handing us the blades". But then we chicken out and hand him back the blade to make the first incision.

That's what I've always thought about the song, but could never find a link between the verses and chorus.

Demon Hunter – Fading Away Lyrics 17 years ago
It sounds like you're all on the right track, but one thing I'd really like to know is, what does this line mean:?

I break the vessel, giving air to it's red

I mean, I really don't think those are the right lyrics? Are they? I mean, "giving air to it's red", that just doesn't make sense...

Demon Hunter – Beauty Through the Eyes of a Predator (feat. Brock Lindow) Lyrics 18 years ago
I don't quite see how the song relates to abortion, but if it's a really deep interpretation who knows...

Also, I'm pretty sure that when he says "With every foolish word that you spit, another nail you'll get" he's not talking about Jesus on the cross. I mean, it's not like Jesus ever said anything foolish, so it makes no sense.
However, I think he's talking about nails in your coffin. They make many references to putting nails in your own coffin in a couple of their songs (Relentless Intolerance, Coffin Builder...) so maybe that makes more sense...

Demon Hunter – The Latest And The Last Lyrics 18 years ago
I love the line
"We'll count the dead and hopeless for every word unspoken". I'm pretty sure it's referring to unbelievers who will end up going to hell unless we tell them the Word. So for "every word unspoked" there will be dead and hopeless as a result. Knowing this and hearing the song really makes me want to run out of my house screaming gospel, but I guess we can't really do that today...Either way it's a sweet song and has a great message
