| Elliott Smith – Last Call Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song pretty much wraps up a terrible relationship, gone from bad to way worse. The last call with the girl, she had lied to him about something pretty big (cheating etc). He proclaims that it would haunt here, and describes how his love turned into utter hatred, "Sick of your sound, sick of you coming around". Yeah, not a hard song to figure out, but for me the song is part of my life. Long term relationships can end so fast, and you feel like a part of you is missing, and it's a very confusing stage. "You can switch me off safely, as I'm lying here waiting for sleep to overtake me". You can definately feel a strong hatred for her in his voice. You are lucky if you've never had this feeling... As we all know, Elliott lost his faith in "God" and described it's relevance is described at the end of this song, it relates to all the cards hes be dealt in life. The relationship(s) made him feel like maybe God was maybe female, or that she made him feel close to god at one time or another. Either way, you can tell he could care less if there is a god or not. "I wanted to tell her that she would never wake me", COME ON, IF YOUR EX WOKE YOU UP AGAIN HOW PISSED OFF WOULD YOU BE!!! LET ME BE IN PEACE!!! RIP Elliott Smith, you deserve rest. |

| Elliott Smith – A Fond Farewell Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is addictive, just like the drugs. I have no opinions on what it is about specifically, it just reminds me of missing those who lost themselves to drug abuse, my ex-girlfiend to be specific. Live and learn I guess... It's just to bad Mr. Smith isn't around to realize how much he meant to us, although i doubt he was even proud of a lot of his music, he should be. His music is medicine for a broken soul. |
