I love all the metaphorical allusions and all the deep thought provoking philosophical lyrics and I'm so glad he's so original and doesn't repeat the same thing over and over again. Fredirick Nietchze (horrible spelling) was a german philosopher who proclaimed that god is dead. This obviously pissed a lot of christians off. God bless their hypocrital hearts. Anyway, in his book, Thus Spake Zarazuthsra, he wrote that we are still worms before we become men. Much of you is still worm. So it could be a reference to that.

before I get accused of being American, I'm not. i'm actually south african and live in south africa. i think there could be some reference to 9\11 due to the ground zero line, not only that, but "I saw a silver lining hidden in a mushroom cloud" the mushroom cloud would most probably refere to some sort of war, the silver lining, either the plane or the building in the smoke cloud. I'm just taking a long shot and that part probably has fuck all to do with 9\11. one thing I can say is poetry is open to interpretation and you can see it anyway as long as you can justify it. so even though dani gives the meaning of the song, he's giving his meaning, and others might see it in a different way |
