I agree with bawhite 2 and crounsa810. But I also like the part of the song where he says, "Funny the way it is, not right or wrong." I think he's saying that the fact that all these things are happening isn't right or wrong. It's just funny. |

I think the man that the narrator is talking to in the last part is God "i took a guess and cut a portion out of my heart. he said thats nowhere close enough but a damn good start. i wrote the secrets that i buried on the wishing well wall. he said ive seen one. it follows that ive seen them all. we spoke of human destination is a perfect world. derived the nature of the universe(found it unfulfilled.) as i took him in my arms he screamed im not insane. im just looking for smeone to understand my pain"
Gods saying that taking a guess and cutting a portion out of our heart isnt close enough but its a good start. hes also saying "ive seen one. it follows that ive sen them all" meaning that hes seen this depression and many others and he knows how to handle it. then the narrator talks to God about a perfect world and and the nature of the universe. after this talk, God screamed im not insane. im just looking for someone to understand my pain. this is just saying that God has pain to when he sees all this depression and he wants someone to understand it so they know hes not insane. the narrator does understand and lets God help him through it. |

i like the verse where it says "i wrote a song for a dead man." sure its good to write a song for a dead man to remember him and it makes you feel better but it doesn't effect the dead man. you should write the song before he dies |

i agree with careysent too but i also think that its talking more about america. hes using metaphores to describe america. hes saying that even with all of all faults, like the different views on the war, we are still the greatest country in the world "faults and all" |
