Lady GaGa – Shallow Lyrics 6 years ago
When you fall in love you can’t control how hard - how deep - you fall. That’s it. It’s the entire song concept (and movie concept). It’s about going all in, in love. That love is all consuming - it protects them, but it swallows them as well.

Two people want something more. They are unfulfilled in their lives. They are searching for meaning. But they are desperate too. They turn to alcohol, drugs, violence, fame, whatever addiction that helps them forget they are alone. They fear what they will do next to harm themselves to fill that loveless void - to feel something, anything, real.

When they find love together they go deep. They can’t turn back. They can’t touch the ground. They are in it together. They are far from the shallow water. They are in the deep end.

Journey – Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) Lyrics 10 years ago
I think this song is about how life is a series of moments. The singer is telling the girl he loved that she is worthy of love, the best love there is, even though they can’t be together.

That one night you have together will always remind you that true love exists. It’s out there.

So even if your other relationships don’t work out, you should remember that you experienced true love, even if it was just for that one night. You are never alone, because that moment happened. True love doesn’t desert us, it stays with us, even if we’ll never be with that person again.

Fleetwood Mac – Landslide Lyrics 12 years ago
I think it;s about change. Whether realising you're a coke addict, breaking up with your partner, being worried about your dad going into surgery (which Stevie Nicks was when she wrote it), or realising your children are grown and don't need looking after anymore, when you realise the life you knew is over, the sweeping changes are devastating. Your old life is destroyed in the landslide of the new life. Will you survive and become a new you? I don't know.

Sia – Rewrite Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this song is about escaping an abusive relationship. One where the controlling partner always "re-wrote" the victimized partner into something they weren't maybe by diminishing them so they felt worthless.

You don't know me (You never knew the real me)
You can't hold me (You can't control me any more)
I'll slip through your hands/I am one single grain of sand (I've escaped, precisely because you made me so small. Small things easily slip away)

You are free to love/Happily received/You are free to love/If that is all you need (I'm letting you go without malice, You are free to find love somewhere else)

The second verse is a real mastery of poetry:
I'm an empty space/I can't be replaced (You tried to make the real me disappear, but emptiness is powerful, it's all around us and can't be replaced by something else)
So when you're finished with this dream/delete, begin to rewrite me (When you're finished fantasizing about what happened, I know you'll re-write me all over again, anyway)
