I think this song is very grey, it has a confused meaning. I think it's trying to bring up the stark contrast between sex and faith, and yet the undeniable likeness. It reminds me of the beginning of The Grapes of Wrath, when Casey explains why he isnt a preacher anymore. According to his faith it was wrong for him to lay with all those girls, but he did it anyway because it was the time he felt the most faithful. You may feel the most out-of-body during sex, but after it's over it roots you. And the present world is all your thinking about, and maybe that's enough. Maybe it's deeper than that, but that's what I get from it. |
