i agree with slapshot, i think i read the same interview. everyone around him at that place in st. louis were having the time of their life but he was just staring at his bloody drink, making fun of them. tweedy...ha he wasn't the drummer in a band that covered kiss songs haha. that's one thing for sure. but what a great song! i love wilco. |

costa's just talking about the beauty of the situation (being with his sunshine) even though he is eventually going to die. it's still optimistic. |

this is casually one of my favorite ryan adams songs. def dylan influenced as pretty much everyone said before, but it's so damn good. so damn simple. it's just all around a great song that i find similar to elton john's "i think i'm going to kill myself" because of its slight use of dark comedy. one of the better ones on heartbreaker. |

this song is perfectly simple. and catchy to the point of insanity. but it's sublime, so it's all good. |

yeah, i think you are looking too hard between the lines when you say this song is about drugs or anything completely negative. it's just naturally an upbeat song as it sounds. his girl is always happy and someday he wants to show her what he has to offer if she'd, for once, would not be feeling so happy. he's thankful she's a sunshine and happy person though, giving it such an uplifting feeling when you listen to it! |

I reluctantly admit i like this song. the meaning kinda sucks, it's just cute (in a sad, hopeful way); like every newage band tries to push across. it's just too catchy. but the use of different instruments complimenting his style of singing grasp me everytime... and since so many bands sound like this one nowadays, the fact that it stood out because of the use of the instruments and tangy sound amazes me. and the change up at 2:32 is greatly pulled off. so yeah i'm like halfway convinced this is a good song. |

| Damien Rice – Cannonball Lyrics

what I like about this song is how the lyrics seem complex but the song is still very simple. this song has parts in it that every song should and the lyrics are exceptionally well written. the last line is pretty much something everyone can relate to, or will sometime in their life, and it makes for a beautiful ending-stressing the fact that endings are so important in songs {especially about love}. I also agree with poffey21 about how it involves learning the hard way. often times it reminds me of "ooh la la" - faces just in that sense.. but much more hidden about it. anyway, rice pulls this off well. |

yes! Time is insane in this song. But this song is crazy good and one of my favorite Dylan songs out there. I have so many different ideas on it. I'm going to have to get back on this, but I think it's really interesting how he really WANTS to confuse the listener by mixing up the tenses in all the verses. very hard to pinpoint this one. The passion of time in this song is strange and outgoing. I'm gonna try and have a debate about it next week with my bro so i'll get back. |

this song is simply not supposed to be taken that deeply, so i agree, it's just about wanting to find the right someone and feel safe and not alone, etc etc. this song really captures the the feelings he has though, i really like it. the live version on live from mars disc two is pretty standard on my list. |

true, he sounds a lot like john in this song. unfortunetely, the sound of his voice comparing with his father's now sounds rather whiney now in present time. back in the day, it was great. i just think with modern times it doesn't connect very well;we've all heard it before. but this is a catchy sean tune i must say. the lyrics don't impress me but i like lines "You can't regret what you forget if only you could forget it" and "everyone is born to die". simple but good. |
