| Regina Spektor – Summer in the City Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Yeah, just because you wish she was a lesbian doesn't make it true. I'm probably one of the top Regina Spektor fans and have seen most to all of the videos and interviews available from her, and none of them say she's a lesbian. Regina's songs aren't about her, they're stories. Stop misinterpreting them and spreading rumours about people. Give me proof and maybe I'll believe it. But all signs point to Regina being straight. This song is either from the view of a man, or a lesbian, but not Regina. If Regina only wrote about herself, she'd be a lot of different identities with a lot of different stories. So Regina has also done all sorts of drugs, slept with both genders, killed herself, been to many different centuries, talked to imaginary things, and I think you see my point. Stop being stupid. If you have proof I'd love to see it. |

Has anyone ever considered most, (aka, all except a few) of Regina Spektor's songs are about other people, often fictional? She writes stories people, it's likely that this was written not about herself, but as a story she wants to tell. Regina's straight, sorry to break it to you. |

| Tegan and Sara – Back in Your Head Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I really disagree with most of you. This song really isn't about a relationship ending, it's about a little rough patch. The 'habits' are the person being interested in someone/something else at the moment, but they're not going to act like that, they're not this other person their partner is starting to think. They want the real them 'back in your head', as in, they want the other person to realize they're not cheating or anything, they want them to see how they haven't changed. The 'run run run' is about how they need to escape their thoughts, they're over-thinking and need to just relax. | |

"I couldn't act like you, but I can love like you do Between us there is something, I can't explain it to you" Also, she is saying that she can't fake the happiness, but she wants to truly be in love. She knows that they're not going well, "between us there is something", but the other person ignores the problems "I can't explain it to you". |

I think this song is very versatile, and it could have a lot of different meanings. In my opinion it's about someone who is in a relationship, and they used to be in love, or thought they would be in love. Now they realize it's the wrong person for them, and the other person knows it too, but the other person refuses to admit it. The other person ignores that there is any problem, hence the "Could I act like you, and put a smile on my face". But the first person wants to explain it to the person that no matter what they try to do to save their relationship, nothing will work, which ties along to "we'll be the same tomorrow, because we've all been painted by numbers". Painted by numbers is like those little colouring books that tell you which colour goes where. You can't change it, make it original, it's not your's. Also goes along with "we're dancing as we borrow", like borrowing time. They're trying to borrow time before they break up, and dancing is symbolizing just trying to have meaningless fun. The beginning and the end talk about the person trying to explain that they are over, and they can't save the relationship. In my opinion, at least. |

| Feist – Mushaboom Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song is very straight-forward, in my opinion. "Helping the kids out of their coats But wait the babies haven't been born" These lines are a person thinking about their future, clearly dreaming about having children. "Unpacking the bags and setting up" Getting back to the task at hand, we see this person has just moved in to a new place. "And planting lilacs and buttercups" I'm unsure of this line, but I'm almost positive it is the person daydreaming again about their future. "But in the meantime I've got it hard Second floor living without a yard It may be years until the day My dreams will match up with my pay" In my opinion, the person is describing about how they obviously have little money, and is living in an apartment, and has a job with little outcome. "Old dirt road (Mushaboom mushaboom) Knee deep snow (Mushaboom mushaboom) Watching the fire as we grow old (Mushaboom mushaboom)" Once again dreaming about how nice her future might be. Mushaboom possibly refers to the place, meaning this person wants to live there (or possibly already does). "I got a man to stick it out And make a home from a rented house" This woman has a boyfriend or husband, and the 'home from -- house" is talking about how he is helping her current livings much more comfortable and reassuring. "And we'll collect the moments one by one I guess that's how the future's done" Her thinking about how they will continue living life and again, thinking of the future. "How many acres how much light Tucked in the woods and out of sight Talk to the neighbors and tip my cap On a little road barely on the map" Dreaming of her future, quite possibly in Mushaboom. "Old dirt road (Mushaboom mushaboom) Knee deep snow (Mushaboom mushaboom) Watching the fire as we grow old (Mushaboom mushaboom) (Mushaboom mushaboom) Old dirt road rambling rose (Mushaboom mushaboom) Watching the fire as we grow old (Mushaboom mushaboom)" Simply the chorus, and her again thinking towards the future. "Well I'm sold" She is positive this is what she wants, and is working towards it. The overall very happy and hopefully tune of the song hints towards while this woman is going through difficult times with money and job, she is extremely dedicated to making her future work and is happy while doing it. |
