| I actually really agree with your interpretation. It's very literal, but for once, Paul could be serious. Everything seems to flow. | |

i agree, this song always makes me think of wicker park. and yes, i never really knew that the song's title was a childish comeback (i don't remember using it as a child) and i always thought it was like "i know what you are"... "but am i?" this song makes me emotional. it's sad, i agree |

| what does this song mean to you? | |
| Interpol – The Heinrich Maneuver Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I don't know why a lot of people over at IMB don't like this track that much, but I think it's definitely one of the best. I have to hear this song at least 20 times to make my day alright. | |
| Justin Timberlake – LoveStoned/I Think She Knows (Interlude) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Yeah the interlude is inspired by Interpol's "Obstacle 1". No surprise why people like it. | |
| Interpol – Who Do You Think? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think a review had said that this song was by far the only fairly 'not so depressing' song by Interpol so I thought of a very direct interpretation... That of the song being related to ghosts. | |

^Agreed, I think it's about abortion too. And maybe he never knew that his girlfriend got the baby aborted? And the words sun and son are played with. But now that I think about the song on the whole, it's probably "Son". "Well, I made you and now I take you back It's too late but today I can define the lack I made you and now I take you back" - A reference to abortion... The baby was a part of him, but it was aborted and now it's too late. "Son, you sleep in clouds of fire" - Okay I'm guessing the baby is getting cremated? Or maybe the baby was in the middle of fights and arguments of his parents. "I see the signs when there is no shape" - Of his girlfriend's womb? "I can still feel it when you lie Pick a rose just to hide my face Well, if there's something I should know I see the signs when there is no shape" - So maybe he never knew that she got their baby aborted and that he can feel that she's lying about it still being there. He's ashamed. And if there's something she needs to tell him, then he gets the signs and he also sees the shape of her womb/stomach/whatever. Either that or maybe she's just hiding the fact that she's pregnant from him. I don't know. I like the song though. And "I have a sequin for an eye" is a beautiful line in my opinion. |

| Oh yeah and this isn't the first time he has swore in a song. Specialist. | |

I think it's pretty obvious that this song is about his girl getting knocked up behind his back. Cheating on him basically. "Just spare me the suspense" "You're late, babe you know it's your time" - She's pregnant. "So cold in the pitch night" - He wants to be brought into the light. She hasn't told him, obviously. "Alone you can't make amends" - You can't fix things on your own, including what you've done. "When you played your heart out You made me turn around" - After she played with his heart, he finally opened his eyes. I don't know, I like to believe it's about her cheating on him. Oh and isn't it "You say that we sent black lies, do you know?" |
