| The Stone Roses – I Wanna Be Adored Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I quite frankly adored this song and I find it sad that I have only recently (as in the last few weeks) discovered it and this band. The comments I've read as to what this song is about or means are quite intriguing. I have my own thoughts....the lyrics are very simple and straightforward he wants to be adored. Who doesn't? It appeals to every human being. Everyone wants to be adored. But perhaps it does have a deeper meaning aside from what is on the surface. I think this song is all about lust and sexual attraction. Particularly with the references to the devil. Lust is one of the seven deadly sins after all. And when he sings "I don't need to sell my soul, He's already in me." I take it as the singer no longer having to sell his soul because it is already gone. He has given in to sexual temptations. He has been adored in a sexual way and he knows the consequences of his possible playful actions and will take responsibility. But his actions do not take away from his pleasure and bliss of being genuinely adored - "You adore me...." I picture the last line sung with a smug, blissful smile on the singer's face. Of course it could be a bit of a stretch...who knows. I just wanted to share my thoughts. :) I'm not particularly religious but with the whole devil/adoration connection I could only think of it as meaning lust and how sexual the song is to me. |

I am love this song! I agree with Apollo231's comment. The meaning is pretty straight forward. Boy likes girl. Girl has boyfriend. Boy is holding true feelings toward girl back...and it's killing him. |

| Sondre Lerche – Lulu - Vise Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I love this song. It's so whimsical. It puts me in a happy mood each time I listen to it. It's very cute. Someone on Sondre's forum posted a translation of the lyrics into English. I'll post them here too since I think it gives a better understanding of the song. One moonlit night in Honolulu It was there [that] I met Lulu Four heads, seventeen legs And [those] four heads loved me And [those] seventeen legs took a walk with me In Waikiki lalalalalalala lala Yes, those were the days! [But] to go to Honolulu To play [the] horn with Lulu I can no longer do [Because] the trip has become too expensive Yes-everything is [too] expensive, even for animals But what do I do? lalalalalalala lala Yes-I sing about Lulu One moonlit night in Honolulu It was there [that] I met Lulu Flowers hung around the necks She looked at me and kissed me She played chess with me In Waikiki lalalalalalala lala Yes, those were the days! |
